VIRTUAL History Book Group (Adults)

Wednesday, June 37:00—8:45 PMOnlineVIRTUAL , , , MA, 02176

Participants are asked to read a book on the topic of the Industrial Revolution: 1750-1900 and to write a short summary of the book.  Possible subjects include the many inventions and innovations that transformed the world from one of small farmers, artisans, and shopkeepers to an urbanized society of wage workers and capitalists linked by instant communication and rapid transportation.  In need of a book while the library is closed?  Check out titles available through our Digital Library (Overdrive/Libby and Hoopla are various platforms with e-book and e-audio options).

Each person will have an opportunity to share what they read within their book summary; the summaries will then be shared within the group so all may read them.  If you are a new member, please forward your summary to melcirc@noblenet.org and it will be forwarded to the moderator of the group.  Please include your name and email address with your summary (you will be added to the History Book Club email list and you will receive direct email communication from the moderator and the group).

Participants will have a chance to read over the summaries and then meet on Wednesday, June 3 at 7:00 PM.  The meeting will be held through the remote conferencing platform, Zoom. If you would like to join in, please register below by Tuesday, June 2nd so that you will receive an invitation via email to join the meeting.

Everyone is welcome, whether they read a book and want to share or they just want to listen and learn!

Registration for this event has now closed.
